High surf and small craft advisory

Share

The Homeland Security and Emergency Management is warning the public that a high surf advisory is in effect until 4pm Wednesday.

Based on the information received from the National Weather Service, large swells generated by Typhoon Neoguri have begun to subside but will remain high enough to generate hazardous surf until Wednesday.

Hazardous surf of 10 to 12 feet will affect west facing reefs and 9 to 11 feet today.

A small craft advisory remains in effect until 6pm Tuesday.

Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid boating in these conditions. If travel by boat is necessary, exercise caution especially near reef lines and when entering or leaving harbors. Avoid venturing near exposed reefs and beaches along all reefs as rip currents is life threatening. (PR)
