Applications now open for ship repair apprenticeship boot camp
Guam Community College is accepting applications for the upcoming Cabras Marine Corporation Ship Repair Apprenticeship Boot Camp. This boot camp begins on Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, and is free-of-charge for all qualified applicants. The last day to register is Friday. Aug. 4, 2023. Boot camp graduates will be hired by Cabras Marine Corp. as apprentices.
Boot camp participants will take carpentry, introduction to painting, and introduction to diesel technology and preventative maintenance courses, as well as certifications in WorkKeys, Work Ethic and OSHA.
Those interested are encouraged to logon to GuamCC.edu/CEWD and fill out the online interest form. The boot camp is limited to 40 participants. Those interested will have to meet the following requirements:
- Must be underemployed or unemployed. Underemployed applicants must be able to attend the full boot camp.
- Must have at least high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18+ years of age.
- Must be able to work in the United States
- Must submit police and court clearances and obtain Defense Biometric Identification System, or DBIDS, card.
