The basketball league bebeing organized by the Saipan Magalahi Eagles Club with its sister organization, Saipan Maga’Haga Lady Eagles Club, now has a total of 25 teams signed up for its inaugural season.

A total of 14 teams are joining the open division (18-and-over), namely Priority Care, Easy Rider, JTM Saipan, Vik Team, Loving Hands, Winners Team, Bridge Capital, The Game, Socho I, Socho II, The Rollers, Checkpoint International, CK Saints, and Agah Team.

Those vying for the championship of the masters division (40-and-over), meanwhile, include many-time masters titleist Blue Haus, JSN Construction, The Legends, Vizion Insurance, MY MP, Long Shot Team, and Samson Team.

There will be four teams taking part in the youth division (14-and-under)—all from Dexter Tenorio’s MadFlex Hoops. He said they’re still looking for sponsors to bankroll the four teams.

Commissioner Sonny Ebuen said the Magalahi Eagles basketball league will have an opening ceremony on Aug. 6 with the customary parade of teams, which includes a best muse and best uniform competition spicing up the event.

The competition will schedule two games at the Gualo Rai basketball court every day, except Sunday. The first game starts at 6pm and the second will commence at 7:30pm.

Saipan Magalahi Eagles Club president Dennis Cortez earlier said their organization is holding a basketball league to commemorate them adopting the sports venue.

He said they adopted the Gualo Rai basketball court so they can have a venue for their many basketball clinics. To this end, Saipan Magalahi Eagles Club has painted the basketball court, fixed the benches, installed lights for night games, and built a committee shed for table officials.

Entrance fee for the league is $650 and Cortez said he is still looking for sponsors for the competition.
