The Marianas Visitors Authority board of directors welcomes a fresh face, with DFS Group Ltd. Manager Jamika Taijeron joining the board.

Taijeron, whose appointment was officially confirmed by the Senate last month, took part in her first MVA board meeting last Wednesday where she shared some of her expertise in the MVA’s mission to further market the CNMI in Japan and South Korea.

As the newest board member, Taijeron said she is optimistic in her goals of helping identify new experiences and activities that the CNMI can market.

“Our beaches on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota are among the most beautiful in the world, but we can only promote them so much. I would like to put together more different activities and experiences that people can enjoy,” she said.

With a passion for tourism since she was young, Taijeron said she is just happy to be part of a team that focuses on that.

“I just want to do what’s best for the CNMI and help revive tourism. I am happy to contribute in any way. I am also happy to learn because this is my first time on such an important board, and I’m looking forward to learning and contributing whatever I can to make the right decisions, and to use the limited resources that we have for the best use,” she said.

Taijeron has a bachelor of business administration degree from Columbia Southern University and she studied tourism and travel services management at Kapiolani Community College.
