Drone pilot operator training for first responders
Drones are set to take flight in the CNMI soon and may aid first responders after a drone pilot operator training with first responders today, June 20, until June 26, from 8am to 4pm at the Northern Marianas Technical Institute Campus in Lower Base.
The six-day course will encompass different aspects of drone flight practical training, with Day 1 talking about rules and regulations and night operations training.
Day 2 is a lecture about the National Airspace System; Day 3 consists of reading sectional charts; Day 4 is about airport operations and weather and micrometeorology; Day 5 is on drone flight operations; and Day 6 are practice tests and booking for the drone flying exam.
The training will be done by Bella Wings Aviation, or BWA, based in Guam. Its co-founder and president is Charlie Hermosa.
BWA is an unmanned aerial vehicle company focused on providing virtual inspection in construction engineering, package delivery, light show, video production, search and rescue, manufacturing and training.
BWA has taken an educational perspective to introduce and train new Part 107 pilots. The Part 107 license is a certification issued by the Federal Aviation Administration that allows drone pilots to operate a broad spectrum of aerial missions in commercial and government applications.
