Gov. Eloy S. Inos confirmed with Saipan Tribune that he recently met with members of the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. board of trustees.

Without elaborating on the details of the closed-door dialogue, the governor said it looks like a resolution is forthcoming on the many issues besetting the corporation.

“I met with the board of trustees…and it looks like we will resolve the many issues raised [between and among the board and management],” Inos told Saipan Tribune.

He cited the hiring of chief financial officer Jack Taisague at CHCC as among the important developments at the corporation. Taisague was hired on June 2.

“[With the] hiring of a new CFO, hopefully that will give us clarity on the many issues that have been raised [in the corporation’s finances],” said the governor.

Inos also noted that the recent release of a $3-million line of credit from the Marianas Public Land Trust would provide relief to some of the immediate and critical needs of the hospital.

In a separate interview yesterday, CHCC board chair Joaquin Torres confirmed the board’s meeting with the governor. During the meeting, the governor heard the concerns of the board, he said.

“The board has concerns. The governor listened to our concerns and he seems to understand the issues. From this discussion, we’re hoping for a positive result,” said Torres, who declined to elaborate on the particulars of the meeting agenda when asked.
