The Blue Jays upset the No. 2-seeded team in the 2023 Tan Holdings-Saipan Baseball League as they defeated them by one run, 6-5 Wednesday night at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Baseball Field.

The Falcons penetrated the defenses of the Blue Jays first and scored a run in the first inning via an RBI single by Giovanni Mira.

The Blue Jays then reciprocated and doubled it by scoring two runs in the next inning as Frankie Norita hit a single, stole second base, and was brought home on Travis Malwebug’s base hit.

Malwebug then also stole second base and was put into scoring position for Russel Hocog who got on base due to a Falcon’s fielding error on his pop fly to right field, which allowed him to reach third base.

Before the Blue Jays could drive in any more runs, Falcons pitcher Zack Blas quickly put three outs, but it was now a 2-1 game in favor of the Blue Jays.

Both teams went scoreless in the next couple of innings until the Falcons caught a break and Jordan Suel found an opening for an RBI single. The next batter had a free pass to home after a wild pitch by the Blue Jays pitcher, Kevin Kapileo.

The Blue Jays returned the favor and also brought in two runs in the fifth inning for still a one run, 4-3 lead. James Salalila scored on a triple by Alden Ngeskebei before their teammates were struck out.

The Falcons, however, struck back and equalized the game on a one run sixth inning. They added just one more run in the last inning and should’ve added more because the Blue Jays swooped in the last inning and scored two runs for the W.
