Tokahao, Asahi, and Peleliu were given a run for their money after winning their games by just one run in the 2023 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association League last Sunday at the DanDan Softball Field.

Momma Charo had a failed last-minute redemption plight when they tried to catch up to Tokahao in the final innings, but fell short and lost 9-10; Asahi was more fortunate as they rallied against Hagu La’mun who had an early lead and won 15-14; and Peleliu came in clutch in the last inning as they won, 13-12 against Aimeliik 1 Time.

Tokahao scored nine runs by the second inning as Momma Charo came up empty for a big lead. Tokahao’s Mark Villagomez hit a three RBI home run in the second, followed by a double by Bruce Norita who was brought home by Manny Villagomez’ base hit.

Momma Charo finally put one on the scoreboard in the third inning but just one—and just one more in the fourth for a seven run Tokahao lead.

Two runs in the fifth, then three more in the sixth were made by Momma Charo on a series of RBI singles by Shawn Fitial, Benji Tagabuel, and Joe Kapileo.

Momma Charo was now just down by two runs, 7-9, but only scored two more in their last at bat and Tokahao slipped away with the win as they put up one more run, 10-9.

Asahi rallied against Hagu La’mun in the last innings as Hagu La’mun scored eight runs in the first inning.

Asahi managed to catch up because Hagu La’mun failed to add more runs in the next four innings while Asahi made strong and accurate bat to ball contact. Asahi’s Allen Teliu hit a three-run home run in the third and Dom Hideo followed suit in the fourth inning.

By the sixth inning, Hagu La’mun only led Asahi by one run, 11-10, when Hagu La’mun added three more in their last at-bat for good measure. However, Asahi came from behind in the bottom of the last inning and scored five runs off well hit singles and an assist off a fielding error by Hagu La’mun.

Peleliu managed to hold off Aimeliik 1 Time’s last-ditch effort in the last inning as Aimeliik almost went home with the win when they led by one, 12-11.

However, Peleliu’s offense came in clutch in their last at-bat and punched in the two winning runs after a single by Rey Matagolai and a double by Mark Flores.

Tuturamz 12, Wazzup 9
Tuturamz finally snagged a win after they outscored Wazzup, 12-9.

Mike Techur hit a homerun and had five RBIs in the game for Tuturamz and was supported by more base hits from his teammate. After the second inning, they had put nine on the scoreboard while Wazzup had yet to score.

Wazzup scored their first three runs in the third inning after a three-RBI homerun by Derrick Aguon. They still had it in them to make a comeback when they scored three in the next couple of innings and another home run was made by Eric Cabrera.

But it wasn’t enough as at the top of the inning, Tuturamz scored three runs to put them up by three—and that was sufficient to take the W.

Sufa 21, Redmen 4
Sufa showed no mercy against the Redmen as they scored in all the innings of their shortened game.

Audie Maratita continued to shower the crowd in the outfield as he hit two back-to-back home runs that brought in six runs.

The Redmen’s offense, on the other hand, lagged behind the big hitters and scored just one in the first and third, and two in the last inning.
