Top seed A’s Car Air Conditioning and fourth seed Blue Eagle/Royal Pacific are moving on in the playoffs of the 2nd Annual Saipan Centennial Lions Basketball League after vanquishing separate opponents last Friday at the Civic Center Basketball Court in Susupe.

In the first game, A’s Car Air Conditioning made quick work of doormat team RNV Construction, 76-62, as the postseason of the masters division started.

The top seed had a jackrabbit start and led large after the opening quarter, 20-7.
A’s Car Air Conditioning continued to freeze their opponents in the second quarter to take a 41-24 spread at the half.

RNV Construction woke up a little in the second half and managed to trim their deficit to just 14 points, 53-39, heading into the payoff period.

A’s Car Air Conditioning then cashed in the fourth period, matching RNV Construction point for point to cruise to the anticlimactic 76-62 victory.

Sniper Bernard Montano shone all game long for A’s Car Air Conditioning and finished with a game-high 28 points, while big man Jorge De Guzman added 16 points in support,

Ronald Rueda was again the lone bright spot for RNV Construction as he led the team with 23 markers.

In the second game, Blue Eagle/Royal Pacific ran roughshod over fifth seed JSN Enterprises, 95-62.

After Blue Eagle surprised JSN by storming out to a 23-8 lead after the first 10 minutes of play, the game settled down and saw the latter take a 36-30 lead at halftime.

Blue Eagle, however, fired on all cylinders come the third quarter to take a 58-46 advantage heading into the final stanza and it was all she wrote as the victors unloaded a 37-16 run in the fourth and never looked back.

Andrew Ashburn led Blue Eagle with 22 points, while Jet Jandoc and Deshawn Reign added 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Jun Tabora was like the Lone Ranger for JSN Enterprise as he fired 28 points in the loss.
