Palacios hopes CNMI drew interest at Investment Summit

Gov. Arnold I. Palacios said Tuesday they are hopeful that at least one or two big companies that participated in the 2023 SelectUSA Investment Summit in Washington, D.C. will invest in the CNMI.
Palacios, who just came from the four-day summit, told reporters that their trip went well, although their schedule was very tight.
“We were able to meet a lot of people,” said the governor; he commended the team from the Commonwealth Economic Development Authority, Northern Marianas College, and the Department of Commerce that went with him.
“They really did a tremendous job with our exhibition booth,” he said.
Palacios said they are hopeful that at least one or two big companies from Taiwan, India, Japan, and other foreign countries that were there will take a look and invest in the Commonwealth.
He said most of the companies that were at the summit were involved in the fields of high technology, renewables, and robotics.
The governor said many walked away with the CNMI’s brochures. “We ran out of our brochures. That’s an indication of something positive. We are very hopeful,” Palacios said.
He said they are thankful to the U.S. Department of Commerce secretary for inviting the territories to the summit.
“That’s probably the first time all territorial governors were invited and sat on a panel and did a presentation,” Palacios said. “Thank you for giving us the exposure that we really needed.”
