The Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the fatal car crash in Kannat Tabla over the weekend that claimed the life of a 44-year-old man.

According to DPS spokesperson Fred Sato, the crash remains under investigation and DPS will release additional information as the investigation progresses.

The fatal car crash along Chalan Monsignor Guerrero road in Kannat Tabla occurred last Saturday, April 29. DPS has chosen not to identify the victim as of press time.

DPS, in a press release last Sunday evening, stated that DPS received a call reporting a vehicle crash by the Coffee Stop along Chalan Monsignor Guerrero Rd in Kannat Tabla around 2:38am last Saturday. The responding officer came upon a red Nissan pickup truck that had slammed into a wooden power pole along the road and was facing southeast. Upon further observation, the officer noted that the driver and passenger of the car were still in the vehicle.

Police stated that the driver was unresponsive and the passenger was unconscious but still breathing.

Medics arrived at the scene shortly after and immediately transported the passenger to the Commonwealth Healthcare Center.

It was determined at the scene that the 44-year-old male driver had no pulse and was not breathing. He was transported to CHCC but was later pronounced dead at 3:20am by Dr. Elizabeth Culp.
