SIS Baby Geckos lead ES athletics qualifiers

The Baby Geckos of Saipan International School were the speediest runners in the start of Week 3 9U and 12U qualifiers in the NMA/PSS All Schools Athletics 2022-2023 on Tuesday at the Oleai Sports Complex track and field.
SIS topped 11 heats in the 9U boys 100m, 9U girls 100m, 9U boys 400m, 12U boys 400m, 9U girls 400m, 12U girls 400m, 12U boys, and girls 1,500m events.
Koblerville Elementary School and Oleai Elementary School topped seven heats each.
The 9U boys 100m Heat 2 Top 3 SIS’ Gabriel Walsh at 17.65; Richardson Mungwaath from KobES at 17.88; and Jacob Borja from OES at 18.15 seconds.

The 9U girls 100m Heat 2 first place was SIS’ Neveah Arriola at 17.14; Kaylen Taflinger from OES was second at 17.82; and third was Liana Sokau from San Vicente Elementary School at 18.18 seconds.
Heat 3 Top 3 was SIS’ Scarlett Burrell at 16.71; Marianne Eugenio from OES at 17.25; Naomi Benjamin from SVS at 17.94 seconds.
The 9U boys 400m Heat 1 Top 3 was SIS’ Tristan Bertoncini at 1:37.33; teammate Cole Santos at 1:40.06; and KobES’ Arturo Pangelinan at 1:40.34.
Heat 2 first place was SIS’ Ezra West at 1:25.82; second was Jaden Concepcion from OES at 1:30.82; and third was Jesus Daikichy from William S. Reyes Elementary School at 1:33.49.
The 12U boys 400m Heat 2 Top 3 was Quido Jambor from SIS at 1:20.08; Iku Benavente from KobES at 1:22.54; and Alexander Salundaguit from OES at 1:26.69.
The 9U girls 400m Top 3 in Heat 1 was Scarlett Burrell at 1:25.94; Kaylen Taflinger at 1:27.14; and Giovanni Igisaiar from KobES at 1:31.43.
Top 3 in Heat 3 was Neveah Arriola at 1:30.65; Naomi Benjamin at 1:37.07; and Jasiel Mesik at 1:37.53.
The 12U girls 400m Heat 2 first place was SIS’ Leilani Ruszala at 1:30.18; Haelie Edwards was second at 1:32.34; and third was Isla Grant at 1:32.57.
The 12U boys 1,500m was dominated by Quido Jambor at 6:47.12; second was teammate Jake Duenas at 7:13.16; third was WSR’s Vicente Aldan at 7:24.08.
And the 12U girls 1,500m Top 3 was Leilani Ruszala at 7:10.42; Erricka Long at 7:29.28; and Isla Grant at 7:32.01.
In the softball throw event that day, Top 3 in the 9U boys was Saipan Community School’s Lennox Sablan at 25.39m; Ernesto Kukkun from OES at 24.58m; and Lellan Daniel with 23.34.
The 9U girls Top 3 was OES’ Ayana Elameto at 19.29m; KobES’ Giovanna Igisaiar at 18.64m; and Leilourchibw Taisakan from KobES at 12.96m.
