SIS, KobES lead ES athletics qualifiers

Saipan International School and Koblerville Elementary School led Group 1 in Week 2 of qualifiers in the NMA/PSS All Schools Athletics 2022-2023 last Thursday at the Oleai Sports Complex track and field.
The Geckos and Umangs topped seven heats each in the 60m, 200m, and 800m, as well as the long jump event.
SIS’ Gabriel Walsh led the 9U boys 60m Heat 2 at 10.44; Jacob Borja from Oleai Elementary School was second at 10.63; and Lennox Sablan from Saipan Community School at 10.80 seconds.
KobES’ Phillip Arriola was first in Heat 3 with 10.87; Sage Tenorio from SCS was second at 11.49; Napu Angui from William S. Reyes Elementary School was third at 11.78; and fourth was Tate Aldan from SCS at 13.71 seconds.
In the 12U boys 60m Heat 2, first place was Ben Hossain from KobES at 8.79; second was Jude Rayphand from San Vicente Elementary School at 9.52; and third was Alexander Salundaguit from OES at 9.69 seconds.
KobES’ Baylyn Mansfield led the 9U girls 60m Heat 1 at 10.26; Breanne Ilo from OES was second at 10.58; and third was Ashia Aguon from WSR at 10.86 seconds.
Heat 3 was led by SIS’ Scarlett Burrell 10.07; second was teammate Neveah Arriola at 10.28; and Jasiel Mesik from KobES was third with 11.11 seconds.
In the 12U girls 60m Heat 1, Sapalyn Apas from KobES took first at 9.79; Adalee West from SIS took second at 10.25; and Argeanna Flores from OES took third at 10.44 seconds.
Heat 2 was dominated by Julyann Hellson from KobES at 9.95; and second and third was OES’ Haelie Edwards at 10.26 and Isabel Carreon at 10.47.
The 9U Boys 200m Heat 1 winner was Gabriel Walsh from at 36.08; second was OES’ Jaden Concepcion 37.31; and teammate Jacob Borja at 38.38 seconds.
Heat 2 was led by Carver Gross from SIS at 39.88; Lorenzo Deleon Guerrero from SVS was second at 40.80; and Paul Wang from WSR was third at 44.39 seconds.
The 12U boys 200m Heat 1 first place was Ben Hossain at 33.50; Alexander Salundaguit was second at 34.57; Arturo Pangelinan from KobES was third at 40.91; and Chaz Camacho from WSR was fourth at 43.73.
Heat 1 first place in the 9U girls 200m was Scarlett Burrell at 35.74; second and third was OES’ Kaylen Taflinger at 36.76 and Mitchiko Laniyo at 40.31 seconds.
Heat 2 Top 3 were Neveah Arriola at 36.11; Madison Rabauliman from OES at 40.40; and Jasiel Mesik from KobES at 41.64.
The 12U girls 200m Heat 2 Top 3 were KobES’ Sapalyn Apas at 35.47; Julyann Hellson at 36.69; and Tristine Deleon Guerrero from SVS at 36.87.
The 12U boys 800m Top 3 were Keneth Aguon from WSR at 3:09.95; Jude Rayphand from SVS at 3:15.29; and Ryu Aguon from WSR at 3:35.06.
The 9U girls 800m Top 3 were Scarlett Burrell at 3:28.78; Neveah Arriola at 3:32.35; and Mitchiko Laniyo at 3:56.78.
The 12U girls 800m Top 3 were a sweep by SIS with Leilani Ruszala at first with 3:24.17; Windsor Gross at 3:24.91; and Isla Grant at 3:29.17.
In the 9U girls long jump event, KobES’ Baylyn Mansfield led with a distance of 2.71; second was Scarlett Burrell at 2.51; and Neveah Arriola was third at 2.22.
