Kwon, Wang are top junior netters
David Kwon and Hoo Wang are the No. 1 players in the junior tennis rankings of the 2022-2023 Northern Mariana Islands Tennis Association.
Kwon continues to lead the boys 18 with 1,250 points after winning the same age group in the Tan Holdings Tennis Classic earlier in the season for 1,000 points and advancing to the semis of the men’s open of the recent Bridge Capital Tennis Classic for 250 points.
Second in the boys 18 Wataru Kadokura is 750 points, followed by Daniel Kang with 600 points.
Wang, meanwhile, currently tops the girls 16 with wins in the Tan Holdings and Coconut Classic Tennis tourneys plus runner-up finishes in the SIS Student Council Tennis Tournament and Bridge Capital Tennis Classic for a whopping 3,500 points.
She is followed in the age group by Anne Lee and Irin Chung with 3,100 and 2,500 points, respectively. Lee’s claim to fame is winning the SIS tourney, while Chung topped the Bridge Capital competition.
In the girls 18, Yebin Shin, Seiyul Hong, and Seohee Lee are 1-2-3 with 1,000 points, 750 points, and 600 points, respectively.
June Yu, meanwhile, lords it over in the boys 16 with 2,750 points across his name. Siwoo Lee and Henry Choi closely followYu with 2,400 points and 2,300 points, respectively.
In the boys 14, Nason Wessel and Siwoo Lee are tied with 2,750 points after splitting the first four tournaments of the year. The latter has won the Tan Holdings and Bridge Capital tourneys, with the former topping the SIS and Coconut Classic. Yutaka Kadokura is third with 1,950 points.
Lina Tsukagoshi maintains her pole position in the girls 14 with 2,200 points after winning the Bridge Capital and third-place finishes in the Tan Holdings and SIS tourneys. Anne Lee and Hannah Chae are tied at second with 1,750 points with each winning the Tan Holdings and SIS competitions.
In the boys 12, Jinho Cody Park rules the roost with 3,300 points built around championships in the Tan Holdings and SIS tourneys. Michael Jeon and Hao Yang Song are tied at second and third with 2,750 points apiece.
Emma Lang leads the girls 12 with 3,300 following a win in the Bridge Capital tourney. She’s closely followed by SIS age group winner Vivian Chung with 3,200 points with Jenna Pascual at third with 2,500 points so far.
Seungwoo Lee, Cooper Koning-Fong, and Jackson Koning-Fong are the Top 3 in the boys 10 with 1,000 points, 750 points, and 600 points, respectively.
