SUFC undefeated in women’s soccer
Kanoa, Tan Holdings undefeated in youth soccer
Southern United Football Club is the only undefeated team left after Week 6 of the Flores-Péé Luwal Division of the 2023 Spring Dove Women’s League, while U17 Tan Holdings FC boys and U17 Kanoa FC girls are undefeated eight weeks into the TakeCare NMIFA Youth Spring League 2023.
SUFC slipped past Kanoa FC, 2-1 last Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
Back-to-back attacks at the net in the 23rd minute put up goals for both teams, with a goal for Kanoa by Ellie Tereyama and a goal by SUFC’s Erin Fink.
Silence ensued until the second half when SUFC’s Keisha Deleon Guerrero found the back of the net in the 59th minute for a 2-1 game.
Right after, Paire and Tan Holdings faced off with the former silencing the latter for a 1-0 win.
Paire’s Megumi West slipped through Tan Holding’s goalie in the 9th minute for the only goal of the game.
In the MP United FC game against Shirley’s FC, Rachel Salalila scored the winning goal in the 15th minute, for a 2-1 game as Shirley’s could not nip the net for the tie.
Michelle Ann Masga drew first blood in the 7th minute, while the only goal for Shirley’s was made by Toremy Diaz.
TakeCare Youth League
Tan Holdings notched their sixth win against Matansa FC, 5-1 last Saturday.
Consecutive goals by Isiah Hossain earned him a hat-trick as he scored a goal in the 3rd, 10th, and 22nd minute.
Meanwhile, Matansa were still finding their footing and were still scoreless when Zhi XIang Lin scored the fourth goal for Tan Holdings.
Finally, in the 60th minute, Nolan Ngewakl scored what would be the lone goal for Matansa as Tan Holdings’ Mark Patubo scored the fifth goal with the clock winding down.
Kanoa FC earned their sixth win as they defeated MP United FC, 6-2.
Markus Toves from Kanoa drew first blood in the 25th minute, with teammate Paul Lizama sailing past the goal four times. The other goal was scored by Gil Sean.
For MPU, Donghyun Lee and Cody Shimizu scored the team’s two goals.
In the girls’ 17U, SUFC defeated MP United FC, 5-1.
The only goal for MPU was made by Irin Chung in the 29th minute.
Two goals were made by Summer Manahane, two were made by Pia Ngewakl, and one goal was made by Rosie Saralu.
In the Shirley’s-Paire game, Shirley’s earned a lopsided 6-2 win.
Hailey Benavente and Alyssa Borlongan scored two for Shirley’s, while Erish Carreon scored one.
Martha Culp and Tsubakiko Joab scored the two goals for Paire.
