Another month. Another milestone for Run Saipan member Ronald Villafria.

The 52-year-old longtime Saipan resident continued his very active and long-busting lifestyle by completing the CCM32 Challenge’s 32-kilometer solo run last Sunday in Clark City, Pampanga in the Philippines.

Villafria outdid himself this time, finishing with an unofficial time of 2:56.55. That time was coincidentally 32 minutes faster than his previous record in the 32K distance.

“I’m happy with my improvement. My marked improvement in every race is extra motivation to keep on doing this running hobby of mine,” he said.

As well as breaking his personal bests in every race, Villafria also finds joy in seeing new faces and getting to know them in every race he joins.

“Meeting different people from different places is another enjoyable moment for me.”
He went on to dedicate his successful completion of the CCM32 Challenge to his family and all the shoe donors that heeded his recent call for equipment sponsorship.

“I want to dedicate this to my wife Lorna and my family, my running group on Saipan and Nueva Ecija, and special thanks to Jerry Tan for giving me two new pairs of shoes as well as others who are donating and have already donated,” he said.

Tan is the president of Northern Marianas Sports Association as well as the president and CEO of Tan Holdings, the parent company of Kanoa Resort, where Villafria used to work.

Villafria’s current training regimen includes running six times a week (with at least one 10K run) and a bike workout of 42 kilometers.

Aside from the 32K solo run, the CCM32 Challenge also had a 32K two-man relay, 16K solo run, 8K fun run, and 4K fun run.

Villafria’s next challenge is a 16-km run in Baguio City on April 23. It will be followed by a 10Kr un in Manila on May 14, before a 70-km ultramarathon on May 20.

He is currently taking up EIM Electrical Installation Maintenance courses under the Technical Education And Skills Development Authority in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija,
