Team Marianas Women beats UOG Tridents

The Lady Tridents are represented by the University of Guam Recreation Department and are playing as a club team.
Points were hard to come by in the game for the first three quarters, as Team Marianas led 9-5 after the first quarter and 17-13 at halftime.
In the third period, Team Marianas scored 11 points to outscore UOG by 3 points and led 28-27 going into the fourth period.
UOG cut Team Marianas’ lead down to 2 points early in the fourth quarter at 34-32, but Team Marianas would go on a 14-1 run to win the game, 48-33.
Destiny Pangelinan would score 9 points in the final period to lead Team Marianas to the win.
UOG would only hit 10-of-24 foul shots to leave 14 points off the scoreboard.
Pangelinan and Kaia Travilla led Team Marianas with 11 points each, while Maddie Alegne added 10. Nicole Pineda led UOG with 8 points, while Crystal Diaz and Lovely Nilooban added 7 points each.
Team Marianas went 1-2 in the Friendship Games. UOG has lost both games against Team Marianas in the 2022 and 2023 Friendship Games.

UOG Tritons 82, Team Marianas Men 76
The University of Guam Men’s Basketball Team defeated Team Marianas in the final contest of the Friendship Games at the UOG Calvo Field House on Sunday afternoon, 82-76, in a back-and-forth game.
Team Marianas led 23-22 after the first quarter with Logan Hopkins scoring three 3-pointers to keep UOG within a point of the CNMI team. Team Marianas led, 45-43, at halftime as the game remained nip and tuck during the entire first half as Hopkins also scored 11 points in the second quarter to lead UOG.
The Tritons took the lead at the end of the third quarter, 62-61, and pushed their lead to 10 points toward the end of the fourth period with Hopkins sealing the deal by hitting two late threes and holding on to win, 82-76.
Hopkins led UOG with 36 points for the game with seven 3-point shots. Amram Yobei added 15 and Isaac Snively scored 11 for the Tritons. Coby Santos led Team Marianas with 25 points and Eli Garcia added 11.
Team Marianas finished the Friendship Games 1-2. UOG has defeated Team Marianas twice in the Friendship Games in 2022 and 2023. (PR)
