After just a week from the last gas price rollback, the CNMI saw a 15-cent increase in fuel prices yesterday afternoon, with Mobil Oil Marianas leading the way around 2pm yesterday afternoon. Shell Marianas is expected to follow suit today.

As of yesterday afternoon, Mobil Oil Marianas now charges $5.269 per gallon of its Extra Fuel from $5.119. Mobil’s Supreme fuel went up to $5.719 from $5.66. Its diesel prices remain the same at $5.739.

The last price increase was in January when fuel reached $5.31. Recently, the CNMI has seen a steady decline in gas prices with the latest rollback just March 22.

A 50-year-old motorist said he is surprised at the fuel increase when it’s been decreasing the past month. He said he now has to be strict with his daily commute once again. He hopes the increase will be temporary and decrease again soon.
