Das Krishnan won the Saipan Golfers Association March Ace of the Month Tournament last Feb. 12 at the Kingfisher Golf Links in Talafofo.
The 67-year-old Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan Banquets and Events director finished with a net 70 after a gross of 82. The 12-handicapper shot a 42 in the first nine holes and 40 in the last nine.
John Matsumoto actually finished tied with Krishnan after also netting a 70 built on a 95 gross (48-47). Completing the Top 3 was Frances Sanlan with his 71 net (100 gross, 45-55)
Krishnan dedicated his win to close friends and golf buddies Steve Balakrishna and Nick Sablan.
“They are always there for me when I am up or down in life,” he said.
His secret to winning the March ace, he said, is he always competes with himself and no one else.
“I just played it cool and took it easy only playing the course and not the players. It was a fine day and also the wind conditions were favorable for me that day,” he added.
In the closest to the pin competition, Ben Aldan took the plum in hole No. 6; Sablan was without peer in hole No. 8, while Krishnan won in hole No. 12.
Patrick Cepeda and Rick Kautz topped the longest drive in holes No. 2 and 18, respectively.
Krishnan now joins SGA 2023 January Ace of the Month Ray Salas for the club’s season-ending Ace of Aces Tournament.
The SGA 2023 March Ace of the Month Tournament is scheduled this Sunday, March 26, at Coral Ocean Point. Tee time is 9am with a show time of 8:30am.
