SaeHee Kim finally hit paydirt in the CNMI Women’s Golf Association after winning the March tourney last Saturday, March 11, at the east course of the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.

Kim shot a net score of 65 to beat a field of 12 players. She fired a gross score of 80 following a 41 in the front nine and a 39 in the back nine, but it was slashed to the best score in March after her 15 handicap was deducted.

“My driver was working so well and also my wedges. Missed some birdies because of my putter but overall, I’m very satisfied with my game,” said told Saipan Tribune.

Kim said the almost perfect course conditions last Saturday played a part in her winning the monthly competition.

“The weather was nice and hot and there was not so much wind.”

Kim said she’s happy to finally win in the CWGA after being a member for two and a half years.

“I dedicate my win to my husband who is my coach and also to all CWGA members,” said the right-hander who first picked up golf on Jan. 1, 2017.

Coming in second to Kim in the March tourney was last month’s winner, Niramai Koebel, who carded a net score of 69 after shooting a gross score of 83 (41-42).

Third place went to Yuko Togawa after the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 women’s coach closed with a net of 72 (gross of 81, 43-38).

The rest of the 12-player field in the CWGA tourney, with their net scores in parenthesis, were as follows: Sonny Son Hyun (72); Clara Chung (72); Emily Qiu (73); Sherlyn Jones (74); Lorraine Babauta (74); Rose Rohringer (76); Dol Yamagishi (78); Mio Kim (79); and Terry Guerrero (85).

CWGA will hold its season-ending two-day CWGA Annual Tournament  next month on April 15 and 16 at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort’s east and west courses.

The club continues to look for new members as the new season continues. For those interested in becoming a member of CWGA or for more information, contact CWGA president Yuko Togawa at 287-9856, vice president Lorraine Babauta at 287-0621, or treasurer Lou Kim at 783-7317.
