The Project HOPE (Healthy Oceans & People Empowerment) Spring 2023 free ocean science club is open for registration until March 2, 2023, for all students in grades 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th. Project HOPE is funded by a grant from the Administration of Native Americans and made available through a partnership with the Public School System.
Eligible students who join Project HOPE will be engaged in activities with a team consisting of natural sciences students of the Northern Marianas College, the CNMI’s finest outreach specialists, and esteemed ocean elders in fascinating ocean science topics such as coral reefs, bays, estuaries, upwelling zones, and sakmans (native canoes).
Project HOPE sessions will be held once a week on Mondays at the Guma Sakman from 12:30pm to 5:30pm. Additionally, swimming lessons will be provided by the Dolphin Swim Club. 500 Sails will provide traditional sailing skills and marine-related science.
