SEOUL (Yonhap)—Jeju Air Co., South Korea’s largest budget carrier, said Tuesday it will launch daily flights to Saipan from Incheon International Airport starting on Oct. 1.

The low-cost carrier will be the only South Korean airline company to fly to both Saipan and Guam, located in the Mariana Islands in the western Pacific. Of the country’s seven carriers, only Asiana Airlines Inc. has 21 weekly scheduled flights to Saipan.

Jeju Air has been operating daily flights to Guam from Incheon since September 2012.

The company, owned by Aekyung Industrial Co., one of the country’s leading retailers and household goods makers, said it will use its Boeing B737-800 jets that can seat up to 189 passengers on the route.

“All preliminary talks to start flights have been concluded by South Korean and U.S. officials last week,” a company official said.
