The late afternoon showers during the Public School System Co-ed Elementary School Volleyball Tournament didn’t put a damper on the Kagman Elementary School Blue Marlins as they won two of their games in Pool A last Friday at the Oleai Sports Complex.
The Blue Marlins’ first win came against Oleai Elementary School Turtles 2 before the heavy downpour of rain, in a nail-biter 22-20 game.
They then defeated Saipan International School Geckos 2, 21-10, after a short reprieve from the rain which later canceled the rest of the nights’ games. The last Blue Marlins game was supposed to be against Garapan Elementary School Mallards 1.
Melanie Cruz, Autumn Herman, Ariani Camacho, Leala Ngiraked, Jaelene Igisomar, Kaya Hetgen, Juan Caraballo, Timothy Galvan, Ricky Kaipat, Damian Tudela, Benaiah Murphy, and Alexander Kileleman make up the Blue Marlins rotation.
In other results that afternoon, Grace Christian Academy Eagles 1 defeated Brilliant Star School, 21-13; William S. Reyes Elementary School Kingfishers 2 shut down SIS 2, 21-0.
GES 1 won over Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School 1 via forfeit; WSR 1 edged GTC 2, 23-21; OES 2 trounced BSS, 21-11; Koblerville Elementary School Umangs 1 won against WSR 1, 21-13; GES 1 defeated OES 2, 21-11; GES 2 slipped past GCA 1, 21-10; and GES 2 beat BSS, 21-11.
According to Nick Gross, Public School System Student Support Services Athletic Program director, those teams who were unable to finish their games will resume their play this Friday, Feb. 10.
