Marianas High School Dolphins and Agape Christian School Torchbearers tore through bracket two in the first day of round-robin games in the co-ed high school Public School System/TakeCare Badminton Interscholastic League held at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium last Friday.

The Dolphins team 1 faced off with Grace Christian Academy team 1 and came out with a sweep of the boys doubles, boys singles, and girls doubles events, but fell short on the girls singles and mixed doubles for a final score of 9-6.

In their game against Kagman High School, the Dolphins regrouped quickly as they almost completely swept all events.

The Dolphins boys, consisting of Sernantie Jimenez, Brian Lubao, Ian Lubao, Daniell Pablo, and Kyle Salcedo, and girls including Terresa Ahn, Shemariah Hicaro, Angela Maratas, Prapti Mondal, and Abigael Robles, were perfect in the boys doubles, girls singles, girls doubles, and mixed doubles events, but missed one game in the boys singles for a final score of 14-1.

On the other courts, the Torchbearers team 2 fought through five events against Saipan Southern High School and swept the girls singles, boys singles, and girls doubles, while they came up short on the mixed doubles and boys doubles for a final score of 10-5.

Their last game against Saipan International School team 2 was a more resounding success as they swept four events save for the mixed doubles for a final tally of 12-3.
