Man accused of kissing girl, 13, to be tried on sex abuse charges

The Superior Court has found probable cause to try a man on sexual abuse charges for allegedly kissing a 13-year-old girl last December.
Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho has found probable cause to try Carlo D. Enriquez on the charges of sexual abuse of a minor in the third degree, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
The court determined probable cause existed after hearing a testimony from police detective Timmy S. Pangelinan.
After the hearing, Camacho ordered Enriquez to return to court to be arraigned on Jan. 30, at 9am before Presiding Judge Roberto C. Naraja.
Enriquez, 53, allegedly kissed and inappropriately touched the girl last Dec. 23, 2022.
According to court documents, probable cause was found to charge Enriquez after a forensic interview was conducted with the victim back in December by a Division of Youth Services-Child Protective Services personnel.
The victim allegedly told DYS personnel that she went to her friend and neighbor’s house on Dec. 23 between 12pm and 3pm to “hang out” and bake brownies.
She said she was in her friend’s bedroom playing a videogame when her friend left the room to use the restroom. While her friend was away, the victim said Enriquez entered the room and she immediately felt uncomfortable.
She said Enriquez touched her inappropriately and kissed her shoulders, above her upper lip, and chest. She added that at that moment she was unable to move or speak. The victim said Enriquez also attempted to take off the face mask she was wearing prior to kissing her.
In a separate interview with the victim’s friend, police said she initially told investigators that she did not know what had happened to the victim. However, the girl later said that, although she did not see anything, the victim did tell her that Enriquez had touched the victim inappropriately and kissed her while her friend was in the restroom.
