Villagomez is special ass’t for OMB, Pangelinan is acting DLNR secretary
Virginia C. Villagomez, who used to head the Office of Management and Budget at the Office of the Governor, was appointed yesterday as special assistant for the OMB.
In a separate memorandum last Tuesday, Gov. Arnold I. Palacios designated Fish and Wildlife director Manuel M. Pangelinan as the acting secretary for the Department of Lands and Natural Resources.
In a memorandum yesterday, the governor said that Villagomez’s appointment as special assistant for OMB took effect last Wednesday.
At that time, Villagomez was present at a news briefing in the Office of the Governor’s conference room during which Palacios and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang talked about the CNMI’s financial situation.
Villagomez was head of the transition team at the Department of Finance.
With respect to Pangelinan, his designation as acting DLNR secretary took effect last Tuesday until further notice.
Former DLNR secretary Anthony T. Benavente was recently sued by the Office of the Attorney General for allegedly receiving over $30,000 in illegal premium pay, overtime payments, or extra payments, related to services he rendered after Super Typhoon Yutu in October 2018.
Earlier, Palacios designated Department of Public Safety police director Aniceto T. Ogumoro as acting DPS commissioner, Emergency Management Operations director Gerald J. Deleon Guerrero as acting special assistant for the CNMI Homeland Security & Management, former representative Leila F. Staffler as acting Department of Labor secretary, and Paul Tenorio as executive director of the Criminal Justice Planning Agency.
