Ramsay, Elliot are players to beat in open division

Colin Ramsay and Hye Jin Elliot are the top seeds in the men’s and women’s open, respectively, of the 2023 SIS Student Council Tennis Tournament that will kick off its adult portion of competition this weekend at the American Memorial Park. 

Seeded No. 2 in the men’s open is CNMI sports hall of famer and national coach Jeff Race, while also entered in the division are Henry Choi, David Kwon, Simon Tang, and June Yu.

For the women’s open, Elliot will be joined by sisters Serin and Irin Chung and Hoo Wang.
In the men’s 4.0, Nason Wessel is the No. 1 seed with Cody Shimizu and Yutaka Kadokura the second and third seeds, respectively. 

Others entered in the division are Jack Linden, Ian Song, Taher Shakir, Andrew Chung, John Kenneth D. Casauran, Daniel Nam, Minseong Kim, and Daniel Kang.

In the 3.0 mixed doubles, Sam and Elizabeth Culp are seeded first with Wataru Kadokura and Emma Quan seeded second.

They will be in the company of mixed  doubles teams William Lee and Maria Shim, Andrew Chung and Stephanie Kim, Seiyul Hong and Jack Linden, Tiana Cabrera and Jesse Sablan,  Maya Shimizu and Dev Bachani, Xavier Lee and Cathy Woo, and John Kenneth D. Casauran and Jocelyn Paano.

Hye Jin Elliot and Sam Ryu will then be the team to beat in the mixed doubles 5.0. They will be challenged by Serin Chung and David Kwon, Jeff Race and Hoo Wang, and  Irin Chung and Cody Shimizu.

Aside from the adult portion of the competition, Week 2 of the 2023 SIS Student Council Tennis Tournament will also see organizers conclude juniors play as rain postponed many finals and semifinals matches last weekend.
