Sablan, Manglona likely to be elected delegation chairs

Rep. John Paul Sablan (Ind-Saipan) will likely be elected chairman of the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation, while Sen. Donald M. Manglona (Ind-Rota) may be chosen as chairman of the Rota Legislative Delegation.

The SNILD members will hold an organizational session this Friday at 10am in the House of Representatives chamber on Capital Hill. At that time, SNILD members are expected to elect Sablan as chairman, Rep. Roman Benavente (Ind-Saipan) as vice chairman, and Sen. Celina R. Babauta (D-Saipan) as floor leader, according to sources on the Hill.

The RLD members, on the other hand, will hold an organizational session at the Rota Mayor’s Office conference room this Monday, Jan. 23, at 10am. At that session, RLD members may likely select Sen. Donald Manglona as chairman and Rep. Julie Marie Atalig Ogo (Ind-Rota) as vice chair, the same sources said. The other member of RLD is Sen. Dennis C. Mendiola (R-Rota).

The Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation will hold an organizational session tomorrow, Wednesday, at 1:30pm, in the Senate chamber.

Saipan Tribune has no information yet as to will likely be elected as chairman of the TALD.

The TALD members are Sens. Francisco Q. Cruz, Karl R. King-Nabors, and Jude U. Hofschneider, and Rep. Patrick H. San Nicolas. All are Republicans.
