The limited number of quality sports apparel in the CNMI was the genesis of online business FAT Sports NMI, which designs and produces quality running and soccer apparel, among others.

Jersh Angeles, a soccer coach for the NMI National Team and vlogger for the YouTube channel Flexin the 670, is now also a business owner with the establishments of online shop, FAT Sports NMI, in November 2022. Aside from playing soccer, he also loves running and fishing.

“My business offers customized sports apparel for teams or for individuals. Any design, we can make it. The only limitation is your imagination,” said Angeles on his business.

As to how the idea for a local sports apparel business came to mind, Angeles said, “I met Franky Adi Thama (FAT), owner of FAT Sports in Indonesia and he provided free uniforms for the NMI National Team for the AFC U16 Tournament last October.”

From there, Angeles worked with FAT Sports Indonesia and were able to provide the following: official uniforms for the NMI National Teams and NMIFA for four years; official uniforms for the Shirley’s Football Club’s Women’s and Youth teams and coaches for two years; official uniforms for the TanHoldings Football Club’s men’s, women’s, and youth teams and coaches for four years; official uniforms for the NMI Badminton National Team for the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022; polo shirts for the coaches and staff of the Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation for the tournament in Guam last June 2022; official uniforms for the Cavaliers Football Club youth team in El Paso, Texas; fishing shirts for the Zeppelin II fishing crew; goalkeeper gloves for the club teams and NMI National Team; and the official shirt of the Flexin the 670 YouTube channel.

Angeles’ short term goal for his business is for his running jerseys to actually be worn during races—unlike the “finisher shirt” which is given as a prize and worn after a race. “I want to prove that my running jerseys are runner’s approved and top performance because its material is breathable, lightweight, and safe (moisture wicking).”

His long-term goal is to open up a sports store “to not just cater to the local people but also to the tourists where they can bring home a piece of NMI back to their country.”

So far, FAT Sports NMI was able to release the first batch of the Limited Edition Saipan Running shirts and singlets to local runners/individuals.
