Before the craziness of the Mini Games, the CNMI National Athletics Team gave a preview of the medal rush to come when they won three medals in the 2022 Oceania Athletics Championships in Mackay, Australia.

Tania Tan won gold in the 10-kilometer run and settled for silver in her favorite 5-km event, while Tiana Cabrera won a bronze medal in the 3,000m run.

While not counted in the overall medal count, CNMI masters athlete Orrin Pharmin also made waves in the Land Down Under after collecting two gold medals, five silver medals, and a bronze medal.

Pharmin got gold in the 110m hurdles and high jump, while his silver medals came in the shot put, 60m, 100m, 200m, and 400m. His lone bronze came in the javelin.
