Volleybakers are undefeated in Agape v-ball tourney

With the playoffs looming closer, the Volleybakers are heading into the postseason undefeated with six wins after defeating GG’z and Veginners in the continuation of the Agape Christmas Volleyball Tournament last Friday at the Agape Gymnasium.
The starting six led by team captain Alisa Baquilles, Cecile Guevarra, Fatima Monterubio, Michelle Masga, Helen Baker, and Julie Capayas, defeated GG’z in two sets, 25-18, 25-16, and kept their streak alive after beating Veginners in two sets as well, 25-6, 29-27.
While the Volleybakers managed to maneuver the ball over the net with precision in the first set against Veginners for the swift win, the second set was tougher to get over as the Veginners found their footing and put in the work.
The Veginners’ Lucy Hong, Esther Zhao, Jenny Xu, Mary Zhu, Iris Chen, Jessica Chen, and Katherine Lim kept the ball alive as they came closer and closer to a tie-breaking third set, but the Volleybakers overpowered them and ended the game with a close deficit of just two points.

In other results of the women’s division games that night, Saluta’s Helpers defeated Veginners in three sets, 25-23 17-25 14-16 and V Fans defeated Saluta’s Helpers in two sets, 25-10, 25-8.
Behind the Volleybakers in the standings is GG’z and V Fans with four wins and two losses, Saluta’s Helpers with a 2-5 card, and Veginners with no wins and seven losses.
In the men’s division games, the Parumpapapums won against the Naughty List 26-24, 26-24; Jingle Boyz defeated Gentlemen’s Association 25-16, 25-21; Bradahood trounced Asian Airlines in three close sets 23-25, 25-22, 15-8; and We 9 Kings slipped past Saikyo in three sets, 22-25, 25-15, 15-9.
There is one more regular season game tonight, with the semifinals scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 29, starting at 6pm, and the finals scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 30, at 6pm.
