Hong Ye Hardware is making available $1,000 worth of Educational Tax Credits for schools that get the most tickets for this year’s Run Saipan Holiday Half Marathon and 5.5K Fun Run.

Run Saipan president Edward Dela Cruz Jr. said all finishers will receive a ticket at the end of the race that they can use to support a local school. Schools with the highest sponsorship will win $500, second receives $350, and the third most tickets take home $150.

“I can’t thank them enough for opening this contest with our event. It’s amazing to see companies outside the health and wellness department give incentives for the community to come out and be active,” said Dela Cruz.

The Dec. 10 Run Saipan Holiday Half Marathon is a point-to-point 21K race from Sugar Dock to Banzai Cliff on Saipan, while the 5.5K Fun Run, which will be held simultaneously, is in honor of Atkins Kroll’s 55-year legacy of serving the people of the Marianas.

Dela Cruz is encouraging all public and private schools on Saipan to sign up their students and faculty to the Run Saipan Holiday Half Marathon for a chance to get ETC.

“Good luck to all the schools. I challenged all the school principals and vice principals and Board of Education members to take the lead for health and wellness on Dec. 10. Run  Saipan can’t wait to see you all at the finish line. The schools can participate in either event. They just cast their sponsorship at the finish line like a ballot box.”

Both races will be fully sanctioned competitive races by Northern Marianas Athletics, an official member of World Athletics the regulatory body of track and field.

Run Saipan also thanked event supporters NMA, Saipan International School, and Marianas Visitors Authority. The community is invited to attend the races and cheer on runners.
