IT&E slips past Aqua Resort

IT&E gave Aqua Resort Club its second straight heartbreak loss in the Inaugural IT&E MIBL Fantasy Draft Tournament last Saturday at the Agape Gymnasium.

Rodel Pastrana stole the ball less than 30 seconds left in the game clock and scored a layup to give IT&E a 3-point lead, 70-67.  

Aqua Resort would quickly retaliate to make it a candlestick deficit, 69-70, but eventually ran out of time to drop to 0-2 in the season.

Just a day before, Aqua Resort lost in double overtime against Eats Easy.

Pastrana led IT&E with 16 points, while center Kelvin Fitial and forward Airson Atan chipped in 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Jack Aranda led Aqua Resort with a game-high 27 markers, while Greg Sablan added 20 points.

In the first game, La Mesa Kusina ran roughshod over fellow debuting team Latte Built, 70-36.

Mak Mintac led the victors with 12 points, while tourney first overall pick Coby Santos chipped in 9 points. Don Brennan and Gerald Flores led Latte Built with 14 and 10 markers, respectively.

La Mesa Kusina 70 – Mintac 12, Santos 9, Docs 8, Ong 7, Cruz 7, Saplan 3, Reyes 2, Hipolito 2, Galang 2, Che 2.
Latte Built 36 – Brennan 14, Flores 10, Aughenbaugh 4, Francisco 3, Athan 2, Mariano 1.
Scoring by quarters: 12-5, 33-16, 43-28, 70-36.

IT&E 70 – Pastrana 16, Fitial 14, Atan 12, Basa 9, Diaz 7, Li 4, Santos Contributed 4, Capalad 3.
Aqua Resort Club 69 – Aranda 27, Sablan 20, Santos 11, Cui 4, Daluyen 3.
Scoring by quarters: 16-13, 23-26, 46-47, 70-69.
