Commonwealth Election Commission executive director Kayla S. Igitol has explained why the CEC website initially contained some incorrect numbers of the general election’s then-unofficial tabulation results on Wednesday early morning.

When asked by reporters about the error, Igitol said Friday that she sent their third-party webmaster their summary of tabulations results that she had read when she really should have sent the breakdown by precincts.

“We were trying to find out what was going on. So I asked him [webmaster] to take it down. We looked at the numbers and I gave him the breakdown from election day, early voting, and absentee by precincts and that’s when we found the issue there. Everything’s good now,” she said.

CEC’s website just removed the “incorrect numbers” without explaining what had transpired. As a result, some candidates and netizens noticed the error as some media entities relied on CEC’s website posting.
