$10K bail is set for man accused of beating ex for breaking up with him
The Superior Court has imposed a $10,000 cash bail on a man accused of beating his former girlfriend because she wanted to break up with him.
Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan imposed last Thursday a $10,000 cash bail on 27-year-old Allaine John S. Reglos, a man accused of kicking and detaining his former girlfriend because she wanted to break up with him.
Reglos, who remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections, is facing charges of domestic violence: assault, assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and false arrest.
The defendant is represented by assistant public defender Vina Seelam while assistant attorney general Heather Barcinas appeared for the government.
According to court documents, a Department of Public Safety detachment office received a walk-in complaint last Nov. 2, at around 4:41am, with the victim telling the police that she was romantically involved with Reglos for a couple of months and that he became infuriated when she tried to end their relationship. He accused her of cheating on him, told the victim to stay inside his room, and not go anywhere before locking her inside his room and leaving.
When he returned, the victim said Reglos threatened to kill himself with a kitchen knife unless she handed him her cell phone. This allegedly prompted the victim to hand her phone to Reglos. However, after checking her messages and phone log and finding nothing, he got angry.
Reglos then allegedly punched a wall and threatened to punch the victim in the face and strangle her.
The victim told police she used her hands to cover her face, but Reglos forcefully grabbed both her hands away from her face, causing her hands to hit a table. Reglos then allegedly kicked her on the left side of her head, neck, and back. He also reportedly grabbed her cell phone from her and refused to give it back.
When she got up to leave his room, she said Reglos grabbed her purse and pushed her out of his dormitory.
