SIS continues dominance in MS badminton

The Saipan International School Geckos again swept their badminton games in Bracket 2 during their second round-robin game of the TakeCare-Public School System Interscholastic Badminton League last Saturday at the TSL Sports Complex. 

The Geckos’ Nara Kim, Lina Tsukagoshi, Frank Li, Allen He, Michael Zhou, and Jason Yu defeated five consecutive schools in a complete sweep of all five events—boys and girls singles, boys and girls doubles, and mixed doubles. 

First place in their bracket, the Geckos wiped the floor squeaky clean with a sweep of Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Jr.-Sr. High School, Saipan Community School, Tanapag Middle School, Mount Carmel School, and Hopwood Middle School 2, for the complete 75 points.

Second place in Bracket 2 is HMS 2 with 49 points, followed by TMS with 39 points, SCS with 32 points, and Dr. Rita and MCS with zero points.

Over in Bracket 1, the Agape Christian School Torchbearers is in first place with 52 points.

The Torchbearers’ May Kim, Joanna Zhang, Joyce Ying, Daniel Yang, Raffy Cai, Daniel Song, and Danny Cheng swept Chacha Oceanview Middle School and Tinian Jr./Sr High School for the complete 15 points in both games; the Torchbearers then won 13-2 against HMS 1, and narrowly won against Francisco M. Sablan Middle School, 9-6.

Second to the Torchbearers in their bracket is FMS with 48 points and Tinian in third place with 39 points; HMS 1 is next with 26 points, CCOVMS has eight, and DanDan Middle School has seven.

The last round-robin games are scheduled for this Saturday, Nov. 5, with another match up of six schools. The finals are scheduled for Nov. 12.
