Queens of Diamonds take pennant

The Queens of Diamonds are the pennant champions of the women’s division of the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association League after defeating the 670 Babes, 9-4, last Sunday during their make-up game from the week prior at the DanDan Softball Field.

The win gave Queens of Diamonds a 9-1 win-loss record after the regular season, while 670 Babes fell to its six loss in nine games.

After a quiet first inning for the Queens, they brought in six runs in the second and subsequently silenced the Babes in the next three innings, for a lead of 6-3.

The Babes could only score one more run in the fourth inning, with the Queens scoring three more in the final innings for the final of 9-4.

Tokahao Ladies 7
The Hot Shots shot through the Tokahao Ladies, 17-7, in the last women’s division game of the day.
The Hot Shots were on fire early on for a 7-3 lead and silenced the Ladies as they could only put up four more runs. With the silence from the Ladies and the following 10 more runs scored by the Hot Shots, the game ended due to the 10-run mercy rule.
With this win, the Hot Shots improved to 5-3,  while Ladies continued their slide at 1-9.

Women’s stats race 
Two Queens of Diamonds batters continue their reign in five categories in the women’s individual standings as of Oct. 23, with a Queen pitcher leading the women on the mound.
Kiana “Baby K” Camacho is tops in batting with 19 hits out of 29 at bats for a batting average of .655.

Camacho also tied Emy Oiterong in most runs scored with 19 each, followed by teammate Kiana Aldan with 17, and Brittany Luzama and Heather Kladikm with 13 each.

Camacho is second only to Mardina Kaipat in doubles made with five. Kaipat is first with six; Kayla Kaipat and Maribel Igitol came after Camacho with four each.

The second Queen on top of the standings, Kiana Aldan, dominates the triples, homeruns, and runs batted in, with three triples, six home runs, and 18 RBIs.

She is followed by Rosie Saralu, Keyona Tudela, Edilyn Benjamin, Sonia Isaac, and Erin Mendiola with two triples apiece.

Heather Kladikm has two home runs, and Rachel Salalila, Rosie Saralu, Erlinda Naputi, Kiana Camacho, Becky Repeki, Janice Celis, Rayna Deleon Guerrero, Allana Sumang, and Victoria Pangelinan all have one each.

For RBIs, Aldan is followed by Mardina Kaipat with 15 and Catalina DeIa Cruz with 13.

Over in the leading pitchers, Bert Camacho from the Queens is on top as well with a record of 51 innings pitched in nine games (8-1), earned run of 18, 81 hits against her, and an earned run average of 2.47.

Bert is in third place with the most strikeouts with 33. She follows Felisa Brel’s 44 and Jennie Scaliem and Semerina Simram’s 39 each.
