“The most important office, and the one which all of us can and should fill, is that of private citizen.”
—U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis (1856-1941)

Election Rip and Rap—Lips Do Flap

Will you clap or cry after the next election
of candidate’s platforms what’s your objection
do some of them suffer from a lying infection
does their lack of honesty cause your dejection

did you give their platforms a close inspection
does their program need a course correction
is your vote heading in a new direction
are you hoping for some incumbents’ ejection

do you want an older office holders resurrection
do you drop dollars into a campaign collection
inveigh against your favorites rivals with invection
in defense of lies do they have good protection

after plenty of conscientious thought and reflection
are you confident about your voting selection.
