Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School-1, William S. Reyes ES-1, Garapan ES-2, and Koblerville ES-1 stood out in the opening week of the co-ed elementary division of the IT&E Interscholastic Basketball League 2022-2023 Season held last Saturday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.

GTC-1 earned a 2-0 mark in the kickoff for the early lead in Pool B, while WSR-1, GES-2, and KOB-1 are  sharing the top spot in Pool A  as they also recorded 2-0 slates.  GTC-1 nosed out KOB-2 in its first match, 13-11, and then routed San Vicente 1, 22-0, for the perfect start.

WSR-1 cruised to a 27-4 win over GTC-2 in its season debut in Pool A and got a free victory over SVC-2 (forfeit) in its second assignment.  KOB-1 was handed the outright win, too, due to a no-show from SVC-2 and improved to a 2-0 record following an 18-0 domination of Saipan International School 1. Still in Pool A, Garapan ES-2 hammered SIS-1, 39-2, and then followed up the lopsided win with another one, this time opposite GTC-2, 24-3.

In Pool B, Siah Casil and Maleai Saures combined for 10 of GTC-1’s points in their close victory over KOB-2 with the former’s last basket of the game giving the Binadus the win. Saures then made 10 points in their demolition of SVC-1 and drew help from Sidro Kania, who also tallied 8 markers.

In Pool A, WSR-1 leaned on the 17 points of Joshua Lizama to crush GTC-2, while Logan Daniel starred in KOB-1’s triumph over SIS-1 after posting 12 points. Maria Enriquez led all scorers in the opener, as her 21 points powered GES-2 to a 27-point win over SIS-1. Against GTC-2, Enriquez also registered double figures in scoring with her 12 points.

In other results in the opening game, GES-1 defeated SIS-2, 16-6.  Casmiro Cosmeses misfired in the entire first half for GES-1, but finished strong, as he made the Mallards’ last three baskets in the game.

Meanwhile, matches in the co-ed elementary division will resume this Saturday.

Rota’s Sinapalo ES and Grace Christian Academy will have their season debut this weekend as they collide in the 8:30am match on the north court. Also scheduled on the north end side are the following games: SVC-2 vs SIS-1; GTC-2 vs KOB-1; Kagman ES vs Tinian ES; WSR-1 vs GES-2; and KAG vs Brilliant Star School.

On the south court, WSR-2 will open the action this weekend when it faces SVC-1, while the remaining matches will have GES-1 battling KOB-2, Tinian meeting GCA, Sinapalo squaring off against BSS, and SIS-2 challenging GTC-1.
