(Clarissa V. David)  A member of the Rotary Club of Sagamihara West in Japan is on Saipan to enjoy the island’s panoramic golf courses and meet with fellow Rotarians.

Takumi Ito presented the Sagamihara West flag to acting Saipan Rotary Club president Pete Shilling during their general membership meeting yesterday at Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Giovanni’s Restaurant.

Ito said that he is on island for a weeklong stay.

“I became a Rotarian three years ago and now I’m enjoying the Rotary life,” said Ito, who is on his second visit to Saipan.

Ito said the Sagamihara West Rotary Club is one of 11 clubs in the city near Yokohama. The Sagamihara West Rotary Club was established about 31 years ago and has about 45 members, he added.

Besides the Saipan Rotary Club, Ito said he has visited a Rotary Club in Hawaii two years ago and in Guam in 2011. “I like to play golf here,” added Ito.
