65% already voted for NI

With 34 more days for Northern Islands voters to avail of early voting, 128 out of 196 registered NI voters—or 65%—had already voted, according to Commonwealth Election Commission executive director Kayla S. Igitol yesterday.
In response to Saipan Tribune’s inquiries about the ongoing NI early voting, Igitol said 65% with 34 more days to vote, is a good turnout.
“And I am hopeful they’ll all vote before Nov. 7,” she said.
Igitol said 117 voted at CEC in Susupe, while 11 are absentee voters.
“It’s been slow this past week. We get one or two voters or none at all,” she said.
CEC started the NI early voting last Sept. 23.
Igitol said of the 196 registered NI voters, nine are currently staying in Alamagan and Agrihan.
Most NI voters are staying on Saipan.
Igitol said Nov. 4 is the target date for the boat to leave Saipan to get the votes of nine voters in Alamagan and Agrihan.
Nov. 8 is the general elections.
Jocelyn Frances Aldan Kapileo is running for mayor as an independent, while Valentino Nicky Taisacan is seeking the post under the Republican Party.
