Christmas in The Marianas is anticipated to return this year with all its brilliance and festivities, according to Marianas Visitors Authority.

The MVA has started preliminary planning for the annual signature event, which will feature holiday entertainment for visitors and residents on Saturday evenings in Garapan, Saipan.

“We are excited to be moving forward with plans to provide a festive celebration for our visitors and residents during the Christmas and New Year’s period,” said MVA managing director Priscilla M. Iakopo. “Christmas in The Marianas is something the community and our visitors love, and it’s something visitors can include in their plans to enjoy while in The Marianas. In spite of the challenges we face as a destination, this is our opportunity to brighten the community with the holiday spirit and share with our visitors the Marianas’ way of celebrating the holidays. As in prior years, our local school children will again be a big part of the celebration.”

The MVA is now reaching out to schools and tourism partners to determine the exact dates and schedule of activities and will be announcing those details once finalized. In prior years, Christmas in The Marianas has included a Festival of Lights parade, Christmas caroling and skits, a Christmas Costume Catwalk, and Christmas Tree decorating.

A meeting with interested schools will be announced shortly. Schools interested to join the event may contact lead event coordinator and MVA Community Projects Specialist Jack Aranda at jaranda@mymarianas.com or 1.670.664.3200/1. (PR)
