All 21,680 ballots printed in Nebraska arrived in batches on Saipan and accounted for yesterday morning for the Nov. 8 general elections, according to Commonwealth Election Commission executive director Kayla S. Igitol.

This developed as Igitol said they are all set for the start of early voting for the Northern Islands tomorrow, Friday.

She also disclosed that starting Friday they will start mailing the absentee ballots.

With respect to the ballots, Igitol said they received all the ballots for all precincts in the CNMI and completed the inventory yesterday morning.

For Northern Islands early voting, she said they’re pretty much prepared as they have the main thing—the ballots.

There are 184  registered voters for the Northern Islands.  CEC received 205 ballots for the Northern Islands.

“We would like the voters to come in through the front door and we’ll check them there, and then we will bring them back to the conference room where they will vote and deposit their ballots there,” Igitol said.

CEC’s conference room in Susupe is the designated polling site for the Northern Islands early voting.

Igitol said voters just need to present a valid picture identification card.

Valentino Nicky Taisacan, who is running for Northern Islands mayor under the Republican Party, said yesterday afternoon that there are five people currently staying on Agrihan and four on Alamagan. The remaining are staying on Saipan.

Taisacan went to the CEC office to pick up a specimen of the ballot.

Jocelyn Frances Aldan Kapileo is challenging Taisacan for the post as an independent candidate.
