Another $11.3M for pandemic relief
To date CNMI has received $69.3M in FEMA grants related to COVID-19 relief

Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (D-MP) disclosed Saturday that the CNMI is receiving another $11.3 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for COVID-19 pandemic relief.
Sablan in his e-kilili newsletter said as of date, the Commonwealth has received $69.3 million in FEMA grants related to pandemic relief.
He said the Homeland Security/Emergency Management received $54.23 million; the Commonwealth government $7.72 million in lost wages; the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. $5.29 million; the Office of the Governor $1.92 million; and the funeral assistance applicants $87,531.
The delegate said this brings to a total of $69.26 million that the Commonwealth received from FEMA as of Sept. 13, 2022.
He said FEMA announced last Monday that the CNMI is receiving another $9,606,182 to cover costs of responding to the pandemic.
He said the funds require no local match and are intended to pay for labor, rented equipment, materials, and contract services performed between April 2020 through September 2021 to set up alternative care sites.
Sablan said on Tuesday, FEMA announced a second grant of $1,678,097 for the CNMI to purchase personal protective equipment and ensure the safe opening and operation of the local healthcare system during the pandemic.
“These funds, too, require no local match to date,” he said.
