All six tabulating machines for the Nov. 8 general elections are running good, according to Commonwealth Election Commission administrative officer Robin N. Sablan.

Sablan in an interview Wednesday said it is, however, their practice to have a technician from Nebraska-based Election Systems & Software come to Saipan before election day to check the machines to make sure that they don’t malfunction during the storage after the November 2020 elections.

He said he will follow-up with ES&S as to when the technician is coming.

Sablan said they have two big scanner/tabulating machines and four smaller scanner/tabulating machines.

He said the two smaller machines are going to be sent to Tinian and Rota, while the  two big machines are only for Saipan.

He said the two remaining smaller machines will be on standby on Saipan in case the other smaller one breaks down.

Sablan said by using the smaller machines, they can post the unofficial results at the Tinian and Rota airports.

He said the CEC official will then hand carry the ballots and the machines from Tinian and Rota to the tabulation center on Saipan.

Sablan said the ballots will eventually be inserted into the two big machines for the official result.
