The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. said as of yesterday utility stimulus credit worth $300 for the month of August had already been uploaded to approximately 12,000 eligible residential accounts.

CUC said the $300 utility stimulus credit in August will continue in September and October 2022.

CUC executive director Gary Camacho said he is grateful to the Governor’s Office and the Department of Finance for providing such relief to its customers since the high cost of fuel has significantly impacted the people of the CNMI.

“The timing of the relief is even moreover felt when the priority of most households at this time is getting the kids situated back to school,” he said.

CUC earlier said that the $900 utility stimulus credit covering the three months was through the efforts of Gov. Ralph DLG Torres in coordination with the Department of Finance and was made to give residential power consumers some relief to the current fuel crisis.

CUC leadership continues to look for additional solutions for long term relief including educating customers on energy conservation to help reduce electric bills, replacing existing engines with more efficient technology, and advancing CUC’s renewable energy initiative for a more sustainable CNMI.

Customers still struggling with their bills are encouraged to visit one of the CUC Customer Centers on Saipan, Rota, and Tinian where representatives are available for consultation and assistance. For assistance over the phone, call (670) 664-4282 to speak with a CUC representative. (Saipan Tribune)
