The CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management announced the opening of its new office on Capitol Hill on July 1, 2022. The new office is located just south on Capitol Hill Drive and east on Yap Drive, Building 1237. The hours of operation will continue to remain the same: Monday – Friday (7:30am – 4:30pm).
Given the mission to continue growing strategically and expanding, the new office space is the perfect size to accommodate the growing team. The office location provides a new look and feel for a more creative, vibrant, and comfortable environment for both staff and clients. It has larger workspaces, a revamped conference room, spacious reception, and is located in a prime location. The past few years have been filled with many achievements for Grants and Finance, and with a new location signifies the start of a new chapter.

By the end of July, the CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management will have completed renovations at their Emergency Operations Center and all command buildings, in order to maximize space and inventory among staff and other members of the agency. Temporarily closed and situated at the Kanoa Alternative Care Site, it is all a part of Gov. Ralph DLG Torres’ infrastructure development and to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of services rendered to the people of the CNMI.

The EOC will be built to follow current regulations, providing employees flexibility for tasks that require space and upholding agency standards by law, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: “To ensure that employees work in a safe and healthful environment by setting and enforcing standards, and by providing training, outreach, education, and assistance. Employers must comply with all applicable OSHA standards.”

“With the expansion and transformation of all command buildings changing workforce, especially for our team, the improvements for HSEM will include modernized and expanded rooms and facilities to address critical needs now and for the years to come. From equipment and desk furniture to overall office surroundings, it ensures our staff have proper working conditions, along with preventing…hazards in the workplace,” said Dennis C. Mendiola, special assistant for Homeland Security and Emergency Management. (PR)
