Yuko Togawa warmed up for her coaching duties in the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 by topping the June tournament of the CNMI Women’s Golf Association last June 11 at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort west course.

The veteran ball striker shot a net 68 after taming the greens and fairways of the Kagman golf course with a gross score of 76 built around identical 38s in the front and back nines.

The 8-handicapper attributed her first monthly win of the year to superb weather conditions that particular Saturday.

“It was good to be able to play without worrying about the heat and blessed with the weather…The green was aerated but the rest was in good condition,” she said.

Togawa said coaching the CNMI National Golf Team in the runup to the Mini Games also gave her a new perspective in playing the sport of golf.

“Coaching gave me the importance of the basics and reminded me how you approach the game is important.”

Coming in second to Togawa in the June tournament was Kim Lou who finished with a net score 69 (gross 92, 48-44), while third place went to Kim Sae Hee, who had a net score of 70 (85 gross, 43-42).

The rest were Doll Yamagishi (net 71), Sherlyn Jones (net 74), Nirimai Koebel (net 78), Sunny Son (net 78), Clara Chang (net 78), Terry Guerrero (net 81), Janet Torres (net 82), Mio Kim (net 82), Rose Rohringer (net 87), and Lorraine Babauta (net 87).
