DFS Group donated $100,000 to the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 just before the CNMI National Baseball Team faced off against Guam last June 16 at the Francisco “Tan’Ko” M. Palacios Baseball field.
“For us, you know we are a global company. DFS is part of the LBMH group and for us to be able to contribute to our home here on Saipan where we consider ourselves part of the family and part of the community is a great honor,” said DFS Group managing director Richard Gustafson.
He added that being a platinum sponsor the Mini Games is doubly special since the quadrennial event is held “coming out of this two years of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
DFS Group vice president of Operations Rachel Tan said she’s proud of what the company is doing as part of the bigger Saipan family to really contribute not only to the growth of the economy but also the tourism industry in the CNMI.
Mini Games Organizing Committee CEO Vicente “Ben” Babauta thanked the donation of DFS Group, which is a company close to his heart.
“DFS has been always part of the community for the past 40 years. I also worked for them for 30 years…We are truly thankful for DFS Group, who has donated a generous sum of $100,000, and have teamed up to present the athletes souvenir bags as well as increased their hours Friday through Sunday until 9pm. Their extension of kindness works toward the improvement of the 2022 Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games and the enjoyment of the attendees, participants, and all those involved with the Games. Thanks to their support, the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 can continue to bring the people of the Pacific together, strengthening our ties, and celebrating our commonalities and our diversity.
