$100K cash bail set for suspected drug dealer

The Superior Court has imposed a $100,000 cash bail on a man accused of selling methamphetamine, or ice, to Drug Enforcement Task Force cooperating defendants.
During a bail hearing last Friday, suspect Jian Guang Zhang appeared in the custody of the Department of Corrections before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho, who imposed a $100,000 cash bail for his temporary release.
Assistant public defender Karie Comstock was appointed by the court to represent Zhang while assistant attorney general Steve Kessel appeared for the government.
After the hearing, Camacho remanded Zhang to the custody of the Department of Corrections and ordered him to return to court on June 17 at 10am for a preliminary hearing, and on June 27 at 9am for an arraignment.
Zhang was arrested in April after he allegedly sold “ice” during two “buy-walk” operations conducted by the Department of Public Safety-Drug Enforcement Task Force.
Zhang, 34, has since been charged with two counts of trafficking, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
According to court documents, Zhang sold a total of 3.1 grams of methamphetamine for an estimated amount of $480.
